Drama, Romance

A Danish writer finds bittersweet romance and a new life amidst the nostalgic, epic landscapes of colonial Africa.

Melancholy and romantic. A date-night pick at a measured pace. Emotionally it is heavy. Based on a book.

What is Out of Africa about?

Tells the life story of Danish author Karen Blixen, who at the beginning of the 20th century moved to Africa to build a new life for herself. The film is based on her 1937 autobiographical novel.

Does it have a happy ending? (spoiler-safe)

Bittersweet. It earns its ending, but not everyone gets what they want.
