CouchRot press
Version 1.7.0 on the App Store, released October 21, 2026. One-person app, Austin, Texas.
What it is
CouchRot ends the nightly what-should-we-watch spiral. Tell it the mood (“funny but not stupid, under two hours”, “scary but not gory”) and it hands you five picks on the streaming services you have, with the reason each one fits. Behind it is a catalog of more than 16,000 films and series tagged for tone, pace and intensity (how scary, how gory, how heavy), which is why a request like “cozy, nothing cheesy” lands.
New in 1.7
- Group Vibe. Pick a mood, send one link, your friends vote on five picks from their own phones. The match lands the moment the last vote does.
- Seen it. One swipe marks a title seen; three feelings (Not for me, Liked, Loved) instead of a number. The engine learns from it.
- Friends. A bounded digest of what the people you trust rated this month. No feed, no followers, no strangers.
- Faster first card. The moods you tap most are ready before you ask.
